Halloween Masks,Decoration and Celebration around the world

Halloween, one of the world’s oldest holidays, is still celebrated in a number of countries around the globe. In Mexico and other Latin American countries, Día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—takes place on 2 November in Mexico, Latin America and Spain, and is commemorated with three days of celebration starting on 31 October. The tradition of this celebration is to honor the dead, as it is believed that the spirits return to be together with their families on this day. In countries such as Ireland, Canada and the United States, adults and children alike revel in the popular Halloween holiday, which derived from ancient festivals and religious rituals. Traditions include Halloween Costumes parties,Halloween masks, trick-or-treating, pranks and games.

Surprisingly, the tradition of Halloween originated in Ireland and not in America as many of you might think. Halloween traditions vary all over the world, from solemn remembrance ceremonies to dressing up in costumes, Halloween masks,Halloween Decoration,Halloween Gifts and celebrating all things scary.

Many families construct an altar to the dead in their Halloween home decor to honor deceased relatives and decorate it with candy, flowers, photographs, samples of the deceased’s favorite foods and drinks, and fresh water. Often, a wash basin and towel are left out so that the spirit can wash before indulging in the feast.

The myth was brought over by Irish families fleeing the potato famine in the 1800s, and since turnips were hard to come by in the U.S., America’s pumpkins were used as a substitute to guide lost souls and keep evil spirits like “Jack of the Lantern” away.

Halloween symbols-

Black cats , spiders, and bats are all Halloween symbols because of their spooky history and ties to Wiccans. All three were thought to be the familiars of witches in the middle ages, and are often associated with bad luck.

Children dress up in costumes and  go after dark  house to house, knock on the door and say  trick or treat! People then give the children “treats” like candy.

Costumes can be scary-

You will see many witches, monsters, ghosts and vampires but you might also see lots of children dressed up as fairies or princesses and now a days when Anime Costumes also added extra color to festival, parties. It is also a time that people have Halloween parties where you can play fun games like bobbing for apples, go through a haunted   house, or have a costume party. You will also see lots of jack o’lanterns on Halloween.

After trick-or-treating, most people attend parties with neighbors and friends. At the parties, many games are played, including “snap-apple,” a game in which an apple on a string is tied to a door frame or tree and players attempt to bite the hanging apple. In addition to bobbing for apples, parents often arrange treasure hunts, with candy or pastries as the “treasure.” The Irish also play a card game where cards are laid face down on a table with candy or coins underneath them. When a child chooses a card, he receives whatever prize is found below it.
